The Laguna Niguel Youth Committee met on November 1, 2018 beginning with the distribution of the members’ polo shirts. The committee discussed the “Songs for Seniors” event and summarized that this event is an inter-generational event to provide an opportunity for teens to perform music for Seniors in retirement homes. They discussed that this event is something new and innovative for the Youth Committee to try.
The meeting continued with a discussion of the Laguna Niguel Holiday Parade and the Committee member’s mode of transportation. A few members decided to ride the Surrey while others chose Segways. The Committee also discussed attire to wear during the parade. The committee then discussed the “Pizza with Police” event and said that they will have a sub-committee meeting with Laguna Niguel Police Services to start planning the event and include the Live Clean Initiative at the event scheduled for January 31, 2019, from 5-7pm.
The meeting ended with a discussion of the Live Clean Initiative that the Youth Committee wants to start. The committee discussed plans to have clubs in schools, social media movements, dinners, and scheduled speakers in order to promote the Live Clean Initiative agenda. The Committee then created subcommittees for social media, event planning, club organizers and researchers. Mayor Pro Tem Jennings reminded the committee to promote that they “Live Clean” and that this initiative has a deep impact on the community. The meeting adjourned at 8:05 pm and will meet again on Thursday, December 6, 2018.
