On September 7th, 2017, the Laguna Niguel Youth Committee had their first meeting in the city council chambers. Eight members were sworn in using the Oath of Allegiance. The committee discussed Resolution No. 2015-1178, which is the updated version establishing the responsibilities, duties, and expectations of the members of the committee. We reviewed the Ralph M. Brown Act and how it relates to us as committee. We then discussed ongoing committee projects: the features of the Laguna Niguel Teen website; the upcoming upgrade to the site, which provides information about job openings and volunteer opportunities. We formed a sub-committee for the LNteens.org website and social media marketing. The second sub-committee formed, was for the promotion of the Entrepreneur Workshop, November 4, 2017. Committee member Alyssa Siegel reviewed her idea for a program to help high school students have conversations with Laguna Niguel’s deputies at an event called; Pizza with the Police, with the potential date of Friday, January 19th, 2018. At the next Youth Committee meeting, October 5th, committee members will nominate and vote for a Chairman, and Vice-Chairman.
